Andre Ayew named best African player in France

The Marseille playmaker was announced winner of the Marc-Vivien Foé award on Monday at a ceremony in Paris.

 

Ghana winger Andre Ayew has been named the best African player in the French top-flight this season.

The Marseille playmaker was announced winner of the Marc-Vivien Foé  award on Monday at a ceremony in Paris.

Ayew beats competition from Monaco and Tunisia defender Aymen Abdennour and St. Ettiene’s Ivorian ace IMax Gradel for

Ayew, who will leave Olympique Marseille at the end of the season, has  had excellent showing for for Les Phoceens and has scored ten goals in the top-flight.

The award is named after Marc Vivien Foe, the Cameroon midfielder who collapsed and died while playing for the Indomitable Lions during the 1997 FIFA Confederation Cup in France.
