The president has responded to what some members of the NPP claim have called sabotaging comments of the plain-spoken Kennedy Agyapong saying that is unfazed his ‘harsh’ criticisms.

Addressing the media for the first time in his administration, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo- Addo said he has known Kennedy for a long time as a member of his party and that he is not shocked by his behavior.

Particularly known for his uncompromising outspokenness, the MP for the Assin South Constituency in the Central region has for the past few months raised many issues of contention challenging the efficiency of the NPP government.

The president responding to a question posed to him by a journalist during the press meet said, “His comments do not irritate me, we can have different views on different matters and that is fine”.

Most recent in his barrage of criticisms against his own party is the accusation he made against the president in neglecting the Central region in his ambassadorial appointments.

“The MPs have been neglected, if you’re not a minister then forget it. That is NPP for you” he said.

The President, however, does not see these comments as a drawback but an aspect the of democracy that tolerates the variance in perspectives.

“I am not surprised at all by where he is going... It adds a certain spice to the politics of our country” Nana Addo added.
