“We are working very hard to come up with a policy within which we can find a long-lasting solution to the galamsey problem,” he said.

The president made the comment in response to an appeal by Nana Effa Opinamang III for the government to deal with illegal miners.

Speaking in Twi, the chief said: “Galamsey is destroying our lands and water bodies. You made a promise to solve all, our president when we vote you to into power.

“Now that you are president please ensure that you solve this problem for us in order to save the lands for current and future generations.”

Nana Effa Opinamang III also lamented about the activities of Fulani herdsmen, urging the president to come up with policies to guide cattle rearing in the country in order to save farms.

He further appealed for a grant to set up a factory in his traditional area, saying it will support government’s one-district, one-factory policy.
