The former President, John Dramani Mahama delivered his last State of the Nation Address on January 5, two days before he handed over to President Akufo-Addo.

He urged the incoming Akufo-Addo administration to continue the implementation of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Extended Credit Facility Programme (ECF) to ensure a stable economy in 2017.

According to him, the continuation of the programme was necessary due to the inability of his administration to meet the deficit target for the year.

Meanwhile, the government has begun preparations towards the presentation of its 2017 Budget and Economic Policy to parliament on March 3 barring any changes.

The Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta said the ministry is working with the Economic Management Team to complete ongoing budget hearings to enable them meet the proposed date for the budget presentation.
