Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has debunked assertions that the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and National Chairman, Paul Afoko were not informed about the press conference organized by the flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, to address the current crisis in the party.

Speaking to Citi News, Nana Akomea indicated that with the exception of the press, nobody was invited.

“Nobody was invited, people were informed, some of them were able to come but some were not able to come. I didn’t even see the National Organizer there because he was doing some other work”, he stated.

Nana Addo at a press confab on Friday, among other issues, urged party members to “cease fire” and operate in unison. After the press briefing, there were questions as to why the two national executives were not invited to the event if truly, the flag-bearer is aiming to unite the party.

While Mr. Agyepong has said he was only informed through a phone call from a member of the party’s Council of Elders, Ama Busia to listen to Nana Addo address a press conference, Mr. Afoko has stated that he was neither invited nor informed to attend.
