Deputy Education Minister in charge of tertiary, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has raised concerns about Ghana’s position on the OECD global ranking. He said Ghanaians should not conclude that the country’s educational system is poor in spite of Ghana’s 76th position out of 76 countries.

He explained that Ghana’s educational system is robust and making tremendous improvement with reference to infrastructure and adaptation of standard teaching and learning practices.

He added that the full Economic Cooperation and Development report will be delivered at the upcoming World Education Forum in South Korea and pleaded with the general public to patiently wait for the report which gives full details on the strategies and method adopted for the ranking for their objective analysis.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education disclosed that Maths and Science was a major challenge for Ghanaian students hence the Ministry is devising ways to solve the problem.
