The bungalow, located at Cantonment, housed Professor John Evans Atta while he was serving as Vice President under Jerry John Rawlings and Aliu Mahama, who also served as Vice President under John Agyekum Kufuor.

Even as President, the bungalow became his official residence although he has a home as a President inside the Flagstaff House.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has denied claims that he has refused to vacate his official residence to allow the current vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to occupy it.
