The National Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anita De Sosoo has disclosed that she will mobilise women to storm the residence of former President John Mahama at Cantonment if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government dares eject him from the house.

She said, the request has been approved by Parliament for Mahama to stay in the residence but if the NPP still insist they do not want Mahama to occupy the Australian House, they [NPP] must "finish killing us [NDC], then they go ahead and eject him."

"Parliament has approved the request by the former president but if the NPP still insist they do not want to occupy the Australian House and still want the one being occupied by former President John Dramani Mahama, then they should go and eject him. They should dare eject him…If they have the effrontery, they should go to the residence and eject Mahama because they will be digging their own pit and not ours," she said.

Anita De Sosoo added, "Anyways, by the time they will get there, I would have mobilised our women to protect the former president. When they finish killing us, then they go ahead and eject him. They want to embarrass him. They should go ahead and embarrass him. Is that not what they want to do? We do not have anything to say to them but we are waiting for them. They should come over to his residence, we are waiting for them."

Meanwhile, former President John Mahama has denied claims that he has refused to vacate his official residence to allow the current vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to occupy it.

The former president who has been staying in the Cantonments residence ever since he was Vice president explained that he had asked for the residence to be allocated to him as his “retirement home”.

Mahama said the reports are “mischievous” and are only meant to "embarrass" him when he had formally informed the incoming administration through his former chief of staff Julius Debrah to continue staying in the house.

"The claims that Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is stranded and has nowhere to stay, is mischievous and deliberately intended to embarrass President Mahama.

Government has also denied claims that an agreement has been reached to allow former President John Mahama to continue staying in his Cantonments residence.

Acting General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu said he will demonstrate against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he gives former President John Mahama his Cantonments residence as his retirement home.

He said, the President must not allow, because the NDC-led administration denied former-President John Agyekum Kufour of such benefit.
