The NPP had described as lies the president's claim in a recent interview with the BBCthat he had fought corruption better than any other regime in Ghana.

The president has told the BBC on the sidelines of the anti-corruption summit that “Any human being in the world would have encountered corruption one way or the other, either being offered a bribe or a bribe being demanded from you. What you need to do is to put yourself in a position to (resist it)."

When he was asked directly by the interviewer if he has taken bribe,  Mahama responded saying “no, I haven’t taken bribe”.

But the NPP has subsequently revealed what it calls evidences to support claims that Ghana under President Mahama is experiencing corruption.

The NPP in a statement listed contracts including the GH 3.6 million Smarttys bus branding scandal, the lodging of $250m in UBA, the STX deal , among others to support their claim of corruption being prevalent in the country.

But, in a response to their claims, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho said the NPP should head to court if it claims the president is corrupt.

"We live in a country that has legal regime. So if that is the case and if you have evidence, incontrovertible evidence, why don't you proceed to court," he told Accra-based Joy FM.

"I'm happy that suddenly the narrative has changed. In the past, it was that the president was doing nothing; nothing was going on in the country. Suddenly...ok, yes, things are happening but give us figures. And we are giving you figures and you put your own spin on figures? That is up to you," Koku Anyidoho added.
