He also urged the EC to uphold its integrity by ensuring transparency and fairness during the 2016 polls and not to fiddle with the votes of Ghanaians.

Mike Oquaye Jnr clarified that EC chairperson and the commission are not expected to play any other role on the day of elections but to serve as calculators, calculating results and declaring the outcome of the elections.
“Charlotte Osei is just a calculator . . . Madam Charlotte Osei of the EC is not a deliberator. She is a calculator. She just has to calculate who Ghanaians vote for. If Ghanaians say they want President John Mahama, we retain him. If they say that they want Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, he comes. If they want Dr. Mahama, he comes. If they want Paa Kwesi Nduom, he comes. If they want Ivor, he comes. That’s all.“So, this election is about 'calculator' Charlotte Osei calculating our votes. That’s all. We don’t want any long talk," he said on Accra-based Peace FM.
Many Ghanaians have cast doubt about the neutrality of the chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Charlotte Osei.
While others believe her appointment is a step in the right directions others consider her appointment as a reward for favouring the late President Mills and the then vice President Mahama when they boycotted the IEA debate in 2012 when she was the boss of the National Commission for Civic Education.
