Avoid unnecessary interference in electoral process - IGP tells Police

The IGP and his entourage had already been to the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions as part of his nationwide tour dubbed "Dialogue Series."

Speaking at a durbar with the personnel of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command at Abesim near Sunyani, the IGP said that presiding officers and polling agents are in charge of the various polling centres and the police would only be demanded to intervene when necessary.

The tour, which will be across the ten regions is aimed at meeting key stakeholders in the upcoming elections on the proactive measures to ensure peaceful polls this November.

Mr. Kudalor had earlier called on the police administration to be fair and firm in the discharge of its duties before, during, and after the elections.

"The 2016 Election is going to be keenly and fiercely contested by all political parties and as the Institution mandated by the Constitution to maintain law and order, it is incumbent upon us to provide the atmosphere of security to enable them to campaign," he said.
