Speaking on Accra-based Accra FM Mrs Asante noted: “I could not complete my JSS (Junior Secondary School) education, but that will not prevent me from contributing the rich ideas I have to build the nation.”

She added that: “Akua Donkor has given an opportunity to those of us who are not educated to also have a say in Ghanaian politics and governance. The fact that I cannot read and write doesn’t mean I cannot contribute any ideas. People are in parliament today but do not contribute to discussions on the floor because they cannot speak English and so I will deliver.”

Akua Donkor, who is a cocoa farmer by profession, and believed not to have had any formal education, has often been criticized for her unsavoury comments in public.

She told Graphic Online that her running mate, who is also unlettered, was chosen to prove to Ghanaians that they are capable of running affairs of the country as the educated ones.

She said with her selection, Ghanaians will be able to differentiate between governance of educated and uneducated people.

When asked whether she was perturbed by Ghanaians who subject her to ridicule in her bid to contest the presidency, the 64-year-old farmer said her critics are only surprised at her ability to be the first uneducated woman to launch and operate a political party in the country.

“I am not doing concert and if they say it is concert that I am doing they should wait and see what God will do.... That is why I always speak the truth because God says we should love our neighbours as ourselves,” she said.

On her part, the running mate Mrs Asante called on Ghanaians to support Akua Donkor in her bid to become the country’s president as her achievement in the areas of agriculture can turn the fortunes of the country around.
