Election 2016 Mahama has only succeeded in putting corruption first - NPP

“It is evident that the John Mahama government is not one that can be trusted to put people first. A government that puts corruption first can only pay lip service to putting Ghanaians first,” Boagye Agyarko of the NPP has said.

The New Patriotic Party has accused the John Mahama-led administration of only putting corruption first instead of its usual slogan ‘Putting people first’.

At a press conference today [Monday] to react to the governing NDC manifesto launch, the NPP’s Policy Adviser for the 2016 campaign, Boakye Agyarko, said “what we have in John Mahama is a President that is so out of touch with the problems of the average Ghanaian that he sees his non-performance in these sectors as success.”

“It is evident that the John Mahama government is not one that can be trusted to put people first. A government that puts corruption first can only pay lip service to putting Ghanaians first.”

According to Boagye Agyarko,  the living conditions of Ghanaians had worsened under President Mahama, adding that “when you speak at random to people around the country, it appears their concerns, problems and anxieties are the same. Unemployment, bad roads, the lack of decent and affordable accommodation and the high cost of living as well as the falling standards in education and health.”

“It cannot be disputed that President John Mahama has made Ghanaians poorer. The prices of everyday items have skyrocketed under John Mahama,” Mr Boakye Agyarko said.

“The price of a gallon of petrol has gone from GHS3 to GHS16, bread has moved from GHS2 to GHS7, milk from GHS1 to GHS3, kenkey from 30p to GHS2, fish from 50p to GHS2, sachet water from 5p to 20p, and a bag of cement from GHS12 to GHS32,” he added.
