Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings was denied the opportunity to contest the 2012 elections because the EC at the time said there were some blank spaces in her form which needed to be sorted before it could be accepted.

President John Dramani Mahama has also filed his nomination forms with the Electoral Commission (EC). The Vice president, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, and the governing National Democratic Congress General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia submitted the forms on behalf of the president on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Submitting his completed nomination forms Presidential nominee of the NPP Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said he will naturally be declared the winner of the December 7 polls for being the first presidential nominee to submit his forms to the Electoral Commission.

"Since I'm the first to file my forms, by God’s grace I will be the first person you'll declare [winner],” Nana Addo told EC Chair Mrs Charlotte Osei while submitting his forms on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Other presidential nominees to have submitted their forms are Kofi Akpaloo of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), Agyenim Boateng of the United Front Party (UFP) and Hassan Ayariga of the All People's Congress (APC).

The EC is not accepting the filing fees yet because the Progressive People’s Party has sued the Commission over the ‘high’ filing fees for presidential and parliamentary aspirants.

The plaintiff is among other things seeking the court to declare that “the filing fee is arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable.”
