The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has said he will not be surprised if the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) plagiarise his ideas.

“Many of the things that we are saying, our opponents in the NDC party may say we are making a lot of promises. But I know one thing; Akufo-Addo promises today, tomorrow it is NDC’s policy," Akufo-Addo said in a meeting with traditional leaders in the Upper West Region.

He continued: "So there are never empty promises, there are substance to that because our party will continue to bring out ideas for the progress and the development of the Ghanaian people.”

The NPP leader is in the Upper West Region to canvass voters ahead of the 2016 after campaigning the Upper East and Northern regions.

His flagship promises such as the 1-district, 1-factory and the 1-village, 1-dam have been criticised by NDC officials as mere promises, urging voters to ignore the NPP leader.

However, the NPP leader said he is not perturbed by the NDC's posture, saying his party is known for 'best ideas."

He said: “And that is why all the best ideas of social development in the last decade have all come from the NPP.

"We are going to continue to develop new ideas that will allow the progress of our people to continue. So I’m not perturbed when I hear them say we are making promises.

"We are going to make promises that we can deliver on and that will help the people of Ghana.”

This is not the first time Akufo-Addo is accusing the NDC of stealing or plagiarising his ideas.

In July, he told party supporters in the US that he will revive the National Health Insurance Scheme which he claims has collapsed.

He however short stop of disclosing it, saying "I dare not say them in public because if I do, tomorrow Mahama will take them as his own. Any time I open my mouth and say something, the next day he parrots it. So I have to be careful.”
