NPP can’t win 30% votes in Volta Region - Lecturer

A former Volta Regional Minister under the Kufuor administration, Kofi Dzamesi, has once again noted that the fact that some chiefs and youth in Peki, Kpando and Hohoe have declared their support for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his recent tour of the region proves they are ready for change.

The Volta Regional NPP executives in May this year held a press conference in Ho to show appreciation to the chiefs and people of the region for what they described as a massive welcome accorded their flagbearer Nana Addo during his earlier four-day tour of the region.

The executives hinted that the party is targeting up to 30 percent of votes in the region as well as three parliamentary seats.

The former regional minister said, “Compared to the past, most residents are feeling the hardship under the present government and will vote accordingly.”

But Dr. Adu Gyamfi has cast doubts over such claims. He maintains that the percentage of voters who may be looking for the said change cannot be quantified ahead of time. “It will be quite difficult to determine because it is unknown if they will stick to their signature block voting or not. It will take more than campaigning to determine if NPP will win massively from the Volta” he said.

Meanwhile, the governing NDC has said the Volta region remains their stronghold and the NPP will find it difficult to change the status quo.
