We will withdraw suit against EC if... - PPP

Dr Nduom is seeking an injunction on the balloting “for a position of presidential candidates for the 7th December 2016”.

Kofi Asamoah Nsiaw

The party on Friday filed an application at the High Court, requesting that the EC Chair be directed to allow him to correct the anomaly on his nomination forms so he can contest as a presidential candidate in the upcoming December 7 polls.

There are fears, particularly, by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers that the legal battle between the PPP and the EC would affect the polls.

But the Policy Advisor of the PPP, Mr Kofi Asamoah Nsiaw said even though the party was aware of the implications of their suit, it would only drop the case out of court if the EC gives the party a second chance.

“There’s a possibility that the calendar will be affected. The commission can on its own resolve this matter outside of court by revising their decision and then we can proceed. So the issue has to do with how the EC intends to move forward with this kind of situation,” he said.

“If they want a court process obviously it will cost them some days and some weeks. If they want it outside court, we can sort it out then all of us have our peace,” Mr Asamoah told Accra-based Citi FM.

Dr Nduom is one of 13 presidential aspirants who was disqualified in the presidential race due to some anomalies on his forms.
