A deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho, has brushed off criticisms from the New Patriotic Party that President John Mahama speaks as though he is "possessed" after the president mounted unstrained attacks on Akufo-Addo.
Mahama is "possessed" with the truth - Ayindoho replies NPP
Mr Anyindo's reply follows a press conference by the NPP on Thursday in which the party lashed out president Mahama for campaigning on "lies and insults" as well as making Akufo-Addo the centre of his campaign message.

"If you are possessed by the truth, and the truth is coming to you as a vision from so many angles, what is wrong with it? There is nothing wrong with it," Mr Anyidoho told Accra-based Class FM.
He added "So the president is possessed with the truth. If I wake up in the morning, and I’m possessed with the truth, and I’m not possessed with divisive tendencies, I’m not possessed with divisive tyranny, I’m not possessed with the spirit of dictatorship, but I’m possessed by the spirit of truth, and I speak the truth, what’s wrong with it?”
Mr Anyindo's reply follows a press conference by the NPP on Thursday in which the party lashed out at President Mahama for campaigning on "lies and insults" as well as making Akufo-Addo the centre of his campaign message.
The party also responded to President Mahama's claims that NPP is divided and that Akufo-Addo is a dictator.
“We wish to tell the president that the New Patriotic Party is not divided; we wish to tell him that the only fight that the NPP is involved in is the fight to rid Ghana of his bad leadership,” the acting general secretary of the party, John Boadu told a news conference on Thursday.
President Mahama has recently upped his attacks on Akufo-Addo.
The president criticised him for "sleeping" during his tour of the Western Region when he said roads in the region are in a bad state.
He again attacked Akufo-Addo's character at a rally in Bimbila in the Northern Region, describing him as a "dictator" and a "divisive" figure.
He further told voters the NPP flagbearer is too "dangerous" for the destiny of the nation to be entrusted into his hands.
