NDC has virtually done nothing for Ghana - Bawumia

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has charged the people of Eastern region to vote the NPP back to power in 2016

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured the people of Afram Plains in the Eastern Region that the area will not be neglected in terms of development if the party wins the 2016 general elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate, who over the weekend embarked on a two-day campaign tour of the Afram Plains North and South constituencies, gave the assurance when he was addressing party faithful at Akyi-Amanfrom.

“After seven years in government, the NDC has virtually done nothing for you; it is clear that the ruling party has got nothing to offer,” he declared.

According to him, the Afram Plains had seen no development since the NPP, under President Kufuor, put up 129 school blocks and extended potable water to some parts of the area.

“The NPP constructed the road linking Tribu, Semankwai, Amanfrom and Akatsi, from Offinso junction to PrapraBebida, among others,” Dr. Bawumia recounted.

He further stated that the fertilizer subsidizing project initiated by the NPP government is now in tatters. “The NDC government has only brought untold hardship to the people of Ghana and Afram Plains for that matter. Vote back the NPP, which brought the single biggest $32m agriculture project to the Afram Plains,” he charged.

At Tease, Dr. Bawumia introduced the NPP paramentary candidate, William Hor, to the people and appealed to electorates to vote for him and the NPP to win the 2016 polls.

Dr. Bawumia had a hearty interaction at Adweso with the passengers on board a ferry and met the fishermen at Akyi-Amanfrom and told them about the need to return the NPP to power.

The fishermen’s boats were spotted with the NPP flag, as a large crowd besieged the entire principal streets of the town to welcome the NPP vice presidential candidate.

He and his entourage went to the chief’s palace to greet the traditional ruler and his elders and later moved to the main market square where he addressed the party supporters and the traders.

At Donkokrom, the Afram Plains North District capital, a large number of people thronged the streets to welcome Dr. Bawumia. It took him over an hour before he was able to reach the party office in the constituency to address them.

Dr. Bawumia visited Mame Krobo, Semehyia, Tease, among other places, to interact with the chiefs and members of those communities to end his campaign tour on Saturday.
