The National Chairman of the People's National Convention, Bernard Mornah, has said he is "troubled" by the large size of the Akufo-Addo government.

He said it is unreasonable  for a president to complain about an empty public pursue, only to turn around and appoint 110 ministers.

"It is totally unfortunate; every Ghanaian is worried about the size of government. How can a president complaining of an empty public purse increase the number of appointees who will all get the benefits of an appointee when they assume office? I am troubled by this…,"  he said on Radio Gold's news analysis programme, "Alhaji and Alhaji" on Saturday. "I hope the president will realign some of the ministries for us to have value for money.”

Increasing number of civil society groups have criticised the appointment.

The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) slammed it saying there is no guarantee large size of government will be sucessful.

IMANI Africa said it will have negative implications on the public purse.

But President Nana Akufo-Addo has defended the appointments, saying "If I succeed, you will soon find out that the brouhaha is nothing, compared to the success."
