'No EC can produce a perfect electoral register' - Asiedu Nketia

According to Mr Asiedu Nketia, "No single entity has what it takes to compile the voter's register alone and call it credible."

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress Johnson Asiedu Nketia said no Electoral Commission can produce a perfect electoral register.

According to him, the current biometric register must be maintained and tradition and conventions of cleaning up the register employed to ensure that the credibility is enhanced.

He explained that in the mass voters registration exercise done before the 2012, all parties were satisfied with the process hence no need for a new register.

He stated the EC allowed any disgruntled person to present evidence that a voter was not eligible so the name can be expunged but the method of cleansing was not used in the process of exhibition.

"No single entity has what it takes to compile the voter's register alone and call it credible," he said.

Mr Asiedu Nketia indicated that the NPP use of the 2010 census data to cast doubt is problematic adding that the adult population stands at 13 million and not 14.2 million as proclaimed by the NPP.

"The NPP's use of the 2010 census to measure the population is flawed. In spite of the noise being made, nobody has been able to prove that anybody voted more than once... The people making allegations about foreigners on the register must prove what they are saying. We are where we are now because of the lack of accurate data," he stated.
