About 130,000 persons have been registered by the NDC in its ongoing biometric registration exercise in the western region. Out of the number, 11,000 persons have been issued their biometric registration cards.

“What is more relieving is the fact that there are 26 constituencies in the region, and when we asked the constituency chairmen to give a report of what they have done so far, nobody gave us a number less than 5,000 and so when you multiply the figure by the number of constituencies we have, we are getting some 130,000 persons." Communication Director for the NDC in the Western region Famous Tumi Acquah told Pulse.com.gh

The NDC said it has exceeded its target 100,000 registrants.

"We in the Western region were targeting not less than a 100,000 people, but per the books that we have received, we have exceeded the mark”. Tumi Acquah added.

According to him “more persons are even expected to register in the coming days because, there is now the opportunity to use the card for voting in the upcoming primaries”. He however cautioned the constituency chairmen and secretaries of the party to register only genuine NDC party members and Ghanaians.

He i assured that the party is doing everything possible to get the registrations finalized before the party’s impending primaries in November.

The NDC is optimistic to register over 1.5 million people by the time its completes the biometric registration.
