Former Prez Rawlings supports daughter's bid to contest Korle Klottey seat

Former president, Jerry Rawlings has thrown his full weight behind his daughter, Ezenator Rawlings to contest in the upcoming National Democratic Congress' (NDCs) primaries for the Korle Klottey seat.

Speaking on Accra based Citi FM, Mr. Rawlings said: "She asked for it. And then we gave her the blessing. She's always had the passion for this kind of thing; for helping people...That's a choice she made; why not. As long as it is in the interest of the people, we support her."

The daughter of former President Rawlings, Dr. Ezenator has denied claims that she is not a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), after photos of her in another political party, National Democratic Party (NDP) colours emerged.

Posters with images of all three children of the former president including Dr. Ezenator Rawlings with symbols of the National Democratic Party (NDP) is being widely circulated in some areas of the Klottey Korley constituency, where she is contesting.

But, Dr. Ezenator Rawlings has said she is not the one in the said posters. She has therefore asked her followers to ignore attempts by people to paint her as not a member of the NDC.

Dr. Ezenator is further optimistic she will be able to sail through the race, in spite of her critics. She said she is currently focused on achieving her priority areas for the constituency, which include; sanitation, employment and health care.
