TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful runner up eyes Ablekuma West seat

Aspiring candidates of the ruling NDC have begun picking nomination forms to contest the party’s November 7 presidential and parliamentary primaries

 

TV3's Ghana Most Beautiful 2011 2nd runner-up, Miss Mantey-Amoo Jacqueline Akweley, has declared her intentions to contest the Ablekuma West parliamentary seat on the ticket the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Jacqueline Akweley is likely to face a stiff opposition from incumbent Member of Parliament, Ursula Owusu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should she win the primaries.

Among the ‘new’ faces eyeing various parliamentary seats in the NDC include Former President Jerry Rawlings’ daughter Dr. Ezenator Rawlings (Korle Klottey constituency in the Greater Accra Region), popular TV presenter Seth Kwame Dzokoto (Takwa Nsuayem seat in the Western Region), a deputy minister of Energy John Jinapor (Yapei-Kusawgu constituency in the Northern Region), Head of Corporate Communications at the Volta River Authority MrSamuel Fletcher (Gomoa West in the Central Region), Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority Ras Mubarak (Kumbungu constituency in the Northern region), a presidential staffer DrClement Apaak (Builsa South seat in the Upper East region), broadcaster and private consultant Mr Eric Don-Arthur (Effutu Constituency in the Central Region), radio presenter Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey (Mfantseman in the Central region).

Meanwhile, there seem to be a “mad rush” for the nomination forms as candidates prepare themselves to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the NDC.

In the Greater Accra Region, Alexander Ackuaku, who contested the Okaikoi South constituency parliamentary seat on the ticket of NDC in 2012 picked her forms at the constituency to contest the primary for the second time.

At Weija/Gbawe, the constituency treasurer of the NDC, John Ayiku Okantey, was the first to pick his forms. The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Ada, Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, also picked her forms from the Ada constituency office.
