We'll prove Nana Addo, NPP not violent - Freddie Blay

“They are in power and I wish them peace but it is obvious that is not what they want. It is obvious they have another agenda,” the NPP acting chairman added.

The acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay in an interview on Joy FM said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is determined to “create destabilization in this country” and they must be stopped.

Some supporters of the NDC have accused the NPP of planning to cause mayhem in the 2016 elections following the arrest of three South African ex-Police Officers by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).

The three; 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.) were arrested last Thursday for allegedly training the NPP’s private security personnel on weapon handling, among others.

Deputy Communication’s Minister, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu said the the BNI's actions are justified because state “cannot allow a situation where political parties form private armies of some sort under the guise of protecting their leaders.”

The NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday clarified that he is not a violent person.

“Everyone in Ghana will attest to the fact that I am a very patient man. Patience is one of my characteristics. I am not and have never been a violent person. Opponents, for their selfish political interests, spew out falsehoods all in their bid to smear my reputation. It has not worked and it will not work, because Ghanaians have seen through the lies,” he said.

According to Freddie Blay, the NPP leadership will make sure it keeps its members and sympathizers in check despite the machinations of the government.

“The NDC maybe, that is exactly what they want to happen; they want to provoke ISIS, they want to distract Ghanaians from seeing what is going on,” he claimed.

He accused the NDC government of creating crisis within the country during this festive season.
