The Minority Leader in Parliament insists “the intellect and background of [ministerial] nominees” will be closely monitored when they go before the Appointment Committee of Ghana’s Parliament on Friday.

He said the committee would try to ascertain whether all nominated ministers by President Akufo-Addo have the ability to “walk the talk”.

“Today (Friday), offers us an irresistible opportunity as the appointments committee to examine and scrutinize the President, Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominees for appointment as ministers of state,” Haruna Iddrisu said in an interview with Citi FM.

“We will give true meaning to the constitutional meaning of prior approval of Parliament.

We will particularly be interested in examining the intellect and background of nominees, their temperaments and understanding of policy issues and situating those policies within the overall policy objectives that President Akufo-Addo and the NPP have shared with the Ghanaian people, and whether they can "walk the talk" on issues of policy".
