NPP will fulfill promises - president-elect Akufo Addo

He also promised to guard the peace and security of the state while hailing the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

At a special thanks giving service prayer Friday at the Central Mosque in Accra to thank Allah for "his grace and favour" following his decisive victory at the polls last week, Akufo-Addo assured worshippers that he will not renege on his promises.

“I want to assure you that we are going to do all the things that we" promised during the elections.

“Free secondary school education, the revival of the NHIS, one district one factory, one village one dam, Zongo Development Fund, all of these are matters that we are going to address and do to promote the welfare and progress” of the country, he said.

Surrounded by vice president-elect, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and other party stalwarts, Akufo-Addo asked for Allah's guidance and protection for his administration.

“There are two things that I would like to say. One, our country is a country of peace and we will do everything to protect the peace and stability of our country," he said.

“The important part of the peace of our country is the peaceful coexistence from generation to generation between people of the Christian religion like myself and Muslim like Mahamadu Bawumia," he added.
