Parliament ready to receive president for State of Nation Address

The Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu made this known on Friday 17 February 2017 as he presented the business statement for next week.

He called on his colleagues to honour protocol arrangement for the day.

“His Excellency the President of the Republic is expected to deliver a message on the state of the nation on Tuesday 21 February 2017 in according with article 67 of the constitution.

“The honourable members are entreated, Mr Speaker to attend upon the house punctually for the event.”

He also entreated MPs not to enter the chamber with their guest, urging them to let them sit in the public gallery.

The Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu welcomed the arrangement and called on the National Security to reciprocate the courtesies the house accords them.

“Mr Speaker, on matters of breach of protocol, I also do associate myself with his [Majority Leader] suffice it to say that Mr Speaker it must be reciprocal.

“This is the house of parliament where elected Members of Parliament are. Let no member of the president’s security come and intimidate or harass any member of parliament in the name that the president will visit this house."
