Nii Noi, defeated aspirant for Klottey Korle primary to sue club

Nii Noi Nortey, the defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle constituency, has hinted he might head to the courts to get the results of Saturday's primaries overturned.

His closest contender, Lawyer Philip Addison won the bid to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Klottey Korle Constituency in the upcoming November 7 polls.

Out of the about 763 votes cast, Addison polled 396 votes while his closest contender, Nii Noi Nortey, polled 367 votes.

This is the second time the primary in that constituency is being held following a court action initiated by Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah after Nii Noi Nortey was declared winner in the August, 2015 primaries.

The court ruled in their favour and the party leadership set a date for the re-run of the primary in that constituency.

Mr. Nortey, who lost in the re-run refused to sign the Electoral Commission’s declaration form and walked off the premises in anger.

His secretary, Immaculate Quarshie has told Accra-based Citi FM, that Nii Nortey is "with his lawyer. He didn’t sign the document and we would have beaten him up if he had signed it. Looking at the analysis from 6 to 10 pm, what changed? It doesn’t make sense

“We are going to put an injunction on the election. We won’t vote NPP without Nii Noi and it’s a final deal. No Nii Noi, no NPP, no vote. They’ve snitched Nii Noi, they have ditched him totally,” she added.
