According to him, President Mahama has performed exceptionally well in the energy sector and must be commended by all Ghanaians.

He said "We did it. As of the time we were leaving office, there was no dumsor. Nana Addo said there would be no dumsor, the first 100 days contractors will be paid, and so on."

Asiedu Nketia added that the NPP accused John Mahama on the alleged privatisation of the Electricity Company Ghana, insisting that Mahama is not being honest in the deal.

But Asiedu Nketia in an interview on Accra-based Starr FM said, "They (NPP) said ‘No way, it will not happen. NDC is selling ECG,’ and so on. Luckily the American government gave us over US$500million to take a certain decision to solve this problem once and for all. Because of the blame game and the opposition, the money kept sitting there to date. Let them take necessary action and fix the power sector."

Ghana has been battling crippling energy crisis for several years now. The country had to shed over 600 megawatts last year, the crisis normalized early this year after the President promised to fix the problem.

In the last few months the country has been experiencing a return of the power crisis which has been explained by the Power Ministry as a generation shortfall.
