Kejetia traders protest over allocation of shops

Traders in Kumasi have hit the streets in protest over an ultimatum by the KMA to re-locate them.

Red band, red dresses wearing and war song singing traders traders at the Kejetia market in Kumasi have embarked on a street protest against a planned demolition and forced eviction of their shops at the central business district.

The KMA has earmarked a plan to demolish the age-old Kumasi Central Market and reconstruct it with modern facilities.

The angry traders from Kejetia claim they have gathered that as part of the plans for the reconstruction of the central market, the KMA has also decided to demolish shops at the Lorry Terminal.

However, the Ashanti regional minister Peter Anarfi Mensah has waded into the brouhaha over the Kejetia market projects calling on the assembly to address the issue immediately.
