Negative comments about 22 year old MP aspirant “laughable” - Kufour

Many have remarked that the second year law student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is too young and inexperienced to lead the constituency.

Former president John Kufuor has described as “laughable and unacceptable” suggestions that 22 year old parliamentary aspirant, Francisca Oteng-Mensah is young and incapable of leading her constituency.

Ms. Oteng-Mensah polled 331 votes to beat incumbent Kofi Frempong who managed 189 in the just ended New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Kwabre East constituency.

But ex-president Kufour says such comments are laughable. He made these comments when Ms. Oteng-Mensah paid a courtesy call on him at his residence.

“I have heard about comments from people with some opining that you are too young and incapable of leading the constituency in parliament but I think such assertions are laughable and unacceptable.

Mr. Kufour pledged his support to the novice.“I will support you to succeed and you can only succeed by not losing focus… never be intimidated by wayward criticisms because that is how this game of politics has become”.
