The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied assertions that the party has set up a committee to create jobs for its members.

The NDC on Wednesday inaugurated a number of committees which included the political committee, election committee, economic committee, social services committee, communication committee, disciplinary committee, complaints committee, the legal committee and the business development committee.

Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Portuphy announcing the formation of the Business Development Committee chaired by Trades Minister, Ekwow Spio Gabrah said, the committee will look at “available opportunities for our people, for ourselves, to create jobs in the private sector and possibly in the public sector as well for our people.”

This, according to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is discriminatory and mind boggling. The party has blamed the government of creating jobs for NDC party members only.

But, the NDC’s National Organizer, Kofi Adams says the committee has not been tasked to create jobs for NDC members.

“I don’t know where this is coming from. How are we establishing a committee to create jobs for NDC members?”

“There is nowhere in those committees that the mandate is to go and create jobs for NDC members…we never inaugurated any such committee.”

“I am surprised at these twists and turns; however, the national chairman of the party in addressing the gathering today talked about the need to develop programmes and to make sure that employment generation is key in all that we do and that as a social democratic party, a business development desk is one such desk he as a chairman was going to see to it that it’s created”, he said on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News.
