US warns of possible terrorist attack in South Africa

A statement on the website of the US Diplomatic mission to South Africa said the attack may be on "Government facilities and other facilities identifiable with U.S. business interests."

 

The United States Diplomatic Mission to South Africa has issued a terrorist alert to US nationals in South Africa.

The US Mission said it has information that extremists may be targeting US interest in South Africa.

A statement on the website of the US Diplomatic mission to South Africa said the attack may be on "Government facilities and other facilities identifiable with U.S. business interests."

The statement said the timing of the attack and the specific target is unknown, but the Mission is urging US nationals in South Africa to review their personal security plans.

"Remain aware and vigilant of your surroundings, including local events, monitor local news stations for updates and follow instructions from local authorities." The statement added.

The recent extremist attack in Africa took place in Tunisia  where holiday makers were attacked at a beach leading to 38 deaths.
