CSIR rejects govt's plan to resettle Old Fadama dwellers

The Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has vehemently rejected plans by government to relocate displaced residents of Old Fadama to Pokuase.

Relocating the over 50,000 displaced residents of Old Fadama popularly known as Sodom and Gomorrah to Pokuase, according to the Director of Animal Research of the CSIR, Dr. Emmanuel Adu, who spoke on Joy FM on Wednesday, would disrupt important scientific work and research that would benefit the country.“They don’t need to come close to what we are doing...the way we have set up they don’t need to come close to our work, government has approached us several times and we have told them No a hundred times,” Dr. Adu said.Hundreds of homes were destroyed last Saturday as the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) undertook a demolition exercise rendering a lot of people homeless.
