Man found dead after eating from neighbourhood rice vendor

The deceased, Kofi Kankam, a father of three, was found laying in his bed with a foamy mouth when neighbours broke down his door.

A 50 year resident of Dechemso in the Kumasi Metropolis has been found dead in his bedroom by neighbours.

The deceased, Kofi Kankam, a father of three, was found laying in his bed with a foamy mouth when neighbours broke down his door. He had not come out of his room all Tuesday morning, prompting the suspicions of his neighbours who say it is unlike him.

According to an eyewitness, Osei Kwadwo, who spoke to Pulse News, Upon entering the room of the deceased, the neighbours found an unfinished plate of rice on a table, which he was apparently eating before his demise, prompting suspicions that the food may have been poisoned.

Osei Kwadwo says the case has been subsequently reported to the police, and investigation are underway to ascertain any foul-play that may have occured.

Osei Kwadwo adds that there are suspicions of suicide as well given that others people in the area consumed the rice from that same source and Wednesday and are fine. This has prompted the suspicion that Kofi Owusu who was recently divorced by his wife, may have taken his own life.
