Water supply to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been restored after authorities there reportedly paid the GHc6 million debt it owed the Ghana Water Company limited Thursday.

The GWCL cut supply to the university for many weeks over its refusal to pay the debt despite numerous warnings to do so.

Students and lecturers, reportedly, struggled to go about their regular duties as a result of the acute water shortage on campus. Read more Water Crisis Hits KNUST And Kumasi Poly

Officials of the utility provider said clients have failed to pay for about 25 per cent of water they have already consumed.

The Public Relations Officer of the GWCL in the Ashanti region, Sampson Ampah said, the debt owed them by these institutions have cost the company and thus has no option than to cut water supply to the institutions.
