Suspect hangs himself in police cell

The youth of Sefwi-Bodi town in the Western Region have vandalised some properties of the police after a suspect committed suicide in a police cell in the region.

The man, Mohammed Amber died after strangling himself with a rope within the cells, Accra-based Joy FM has reported.

This is the third time the deceased had been in police cells for an offence.

Amber, who had blood oozing from his eyes at the time of his death, had been in cells after he was accused of stealing a mobile phone and an amount of 200 cedis belonging to a man whom he accused of sleeping with his wife.

Police in the Western region, who have confirmed the incident, have began investigations into the death.
