Give Us Money - Boxing Authority Tells Mahama

Speaking to Ultimate FM in Kumasi, Zwennes said his authority is tired of promises and are in dire need of money to finance the activities of the GBA.

The president of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Peter Zwennes has called on President John Mahama to ensure that money is released to the Authority to help run their activities. The president stressed the need to focus more on the “lesser-known” sports in order to bring laurels to the country. Although the sport of boxing has produced several world champions in the past, the GBA has not had any sort of funding from government in the past two years.Speaking to Ultimate FM in Kumasi, Zwennes said his authority is tired of promises and are in dire need of money to finance the activities of the GBA.“I took that part of the president’s speech with a pinch of salt. Every year, it’s been the same old promises. Budgets are presented and approved and yet in the end, they go back and concentrate everything on the Black Stars,” Zwennes said.“Ministers have come and gone, all promising to be ministers for all sports but they turn around and become football ministers. What we need is money, not words. We are tired of promises,” Zwennes added.
