Two burnt to death in bungalow at Takoradi

Their bodies have since been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Mortuary by the Police.

 

Two women were on Wednesday burnt to death at Windy Ridge, a suburb of Takoradi, when the room in which they were sleeping caught fire in the Western region.

The names of the two deceased whose bodies were burnt beyond recognition were only given by the neighbours as Comfort and Theresah aged between 18 and 20.

One neighbour who lamented what she witnessed amidst uncontrollable tears said the two ladies are house helps living with a woman and her family in one of the bungalows.

According to some neighbours, the two bungalows where the incident happened are being occupied by two staff members of the Western Regional Coordinating Council and their families.

The inferno, according to the neighbours was intense at the Apartment of an Economic Planning officer who is currently studying abroad.

The wife of the Planning officer, who is a chop bar operator and her five children escaped death after one of the children forced the door opened to escape.

They are currently on admission at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital with varying degree of injuries.

The Regional Public Relations Officer ADFO for Ghana National Fire Service, Emmanuel Bonney said his outfit is yet to establish the cause of the fire.
