We'll arrest NPP hooligans - Police

Addressing a press conference Friday, the Communications Director of the Police, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, said the police have deployed personnel to strategic public and state institutions to ward off the rampaging youth.

“In all cases where perpetrators are at large, the Police shall continue to pursue them until they are arrested to face the law. The Police have presently deployed personnel to vital state installations and some state institutions which are targets of these attacks and invasions to protect them,” he said.

"Moreover, the action units are also standing by to respond to any emergency situations to prevent or stop any act of criminality,” he added.

Five persons in Accra have been arrested for attacking and attempting to takeover government installations illegally, the Police added.

The five are 25-year old Musah Muship, 41-year old Abdulai Mohammed, Adam Mahama 39, and Sulemana Issahaku 32. They are all scrap dealers operating in Accra.

The police narrated that they assaulted the revenue collectors and also robbed them of GH¢2,000.

The police warned other party supporters to desist from such acts.

The NPP’s Amasaman Constituency Chairman Kwame Ofosu-Adjei has also been arrested.

According to a statement signed by Regional Commander, ACP Timothy Y Bonga, he was arrested “for forcibly entering the Doblo Toll Booth and threatening to take over the revenue collection operations, and in the process assaulted the police officer who was then on duty.”

In a related development, the Nima Divisional Command has also arrested three other people for taking over three toilet facilities within Mamobi.
