Koala robbery : Mini trial to be conducted

This is to determine whether the statement from two accused persons were obtained under duress by the police

A mini trial is to be conducted by an Accra Circuit Court hearing the Koala Robbery case to ascertain whether or not the statements from two of the accused persons were taken under duress.

This followed an objection from the defense council for the accused persons Michael Edor Ahiataku and Frederick Sedro Kwame, who questioned the manner in which the statements the prosecution wants to present as evidence were taken, the Ghana News Agency reports.

The Defense argued that Ahiataku for instance was tortured and was forced to append his signature.

Prosecuting Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Duuti Tuaruka denied  the allegation by the  defence counsel.
