Appointments Committee halts approval of Osafo Maafo and Agyarko

It is, however, unclear why Mr Osafo Marfo and Boakye Agyarko have not been approved.

A copy of the first report of the appointment committee names the appointees recommended for approval as follows:

Mr Albert Kan Dapaah , Minister Designate  for National Security, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, Minister Designate for Finance, Dominic Nitiwul, Minister Designate for Defence, Ambrose Dery  Minister Designate for Interior, Ms Gloria Akuffo, Minister Designate for Attorney General and Justice.

The rest are Alan Kyeremanten, Minister Designate for Trade and Industry, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway Minister designate for Foreign Affairs and Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister Designate for Local Government and Rural Development.

However, Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo, Energy Minister designate Boakye Agyarko and three others were not part of the list recommended for approval.

The committee was said not to be convinced about the response of the Senior Minister-designate to alleged ethnocentric comments he reportedly made when he met some party members in the Eastern Region.

The approval of Boakye Agyarko as the next Energy Minister was said to have been in limbo following some allegations of perjury against his testimony before the Appointments Committee.
