A 54-year- old patient, Amarkye Boateng, has committed suicide at the premises of the Korle-Bu teaching Hospital.

According to family members, Amarkye who was on admission at the surgical Ward G pending a surgical operation on Tuesday was reportedly missing on Friday.

The family together with some nurses at the Ward subsequently put up a search for him, only to find Mr. Amarkye lifelessly hanging on a mango tree near the in-service training centre of the Korle Bu teaching hospital.

Commander of the Korle Bu Police, DSP Peter Yembilla who narrated the incident to Citi News said “the remains has been deposited at the Korle Bu teaching Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.” It is however yet unclear why the deceased committed suicide.
