UK, China, Australia and Hong Kong have issued a travel warning to their citizens against travelling to South Africa in the wake of the xenophobic attacks in that country.

The Australian High Commission on their website informs travellers of the recent increase in attacks on foreign nationals in the two provinces.

The warnings were reportedly issues from 17th April.
It urges travellers urges exercise a "high degree of caution" in the country due to the high level of serious crime, with KwaMashu and Umlazi specifically highlighted as the trouble areas.

It goes on to warn that should travellers find themselves in South Africa, they're targeted victims moreso as bystanders have been killed in these attacks.
Travellers are urged to monitor media reports about the incidents and to avoid the areas where the attacks are likely to occur.
Meanwhile 8 Nigerians have expressed interest in returning home in the wake of the xenophobic attacks which has claimed no fewer than 7 lives.
