Mahama enjoins chiefs to publicize limited voter registration
Speaking to Chiefs and people of Akwamu as part of his ‘Accounting to the people’ tour of the Eastern Region, President Mahama said the move will also ensure that young people have a stake in the future of this country.

According to him, this will increase awareness of the exercise among Ghanaians to enable those who have turned 18 years and above, to go out in their numbers and register.
“I want Nananom [Chiefs] to take note and assist the Electoral Commission to publicize the upcoming limited registration exercise. From the 28th of April to the 8th of May, the Electoral Commission is opening the electoral register and all our young people who have just turned 18 years of age and above, are required to go and register so that they can vote on November 7 2016, in the coming presidential and parliamentary elections.
“…So Nananom [Chiefs] I will encourage you to publicize this and encourage our young people to come out and go and register so that they can vote,” he added.

The president, in touting his achievements said his government has been able to connect over 4000 communities to the national grid within the last four years.
He added that his government has also began construction works on some deplorable roads in the region following complaints from the chiefs.
President John Mahama also commissioned a district assembly office complex and an ICT center at Ofoase-Ayirebi in the Eastern Region.
