Ayariga denies claims of children as delegates

The APC party held on Monday was described as a “kids affair” by some sections of the public after minors, wearing delegate tags, were allegedly found among delegates at the Congress.

But speaking to Pulse.com.gh, Mr Ayariga said the children at the venue were only there as spectators.

“There were no kids at the delegates congress. There were only kids around the delegates congress. Whiles we were playing music, they were dancing. People should be serious. Wherever you put a music band and play for the next ten minutes, you will see kids coming there,” he explained.

“Will the EC allow them, or the police allow children into a programme like the Accra International Conference Centre?”, he asked.

“Even though we had free food out there and people were also rushing for the free food; even with that one was not in the hall, it was around the hall,” he added.

Mr. Ayariga, who attended the Congress with his five children, said the children with the delegate tags probably came with their parents as well.

“Some people [children] also came with their parents. Me for instance, I went there with my kids. My kids were five. Because they are on midterms, they were all there, running around the place and playing...The kids didn’t vote. If you even say there were kids there, did they vote?” the APC flag bearer asked.

Meanwhile, Mr Ayariga has reiterated his vision of an all-inclusive government where all Ghanaians regardless of their political or ethnic background will come together to build the country.

“I had a dream and in the dream I had a vision and in the vision I saw that I could help move this nation from its current deplorable state to another level,” he said.
