Mr Ofori-Ampofo said because his name appeared on the list of dead persons, he was not allowed to cast his vote in the recent district assembly elections.

The assembly member for Akyem Asantemang in the Birim Central Municipality, Mr Bright Ofori-Ampofo, has expressed concern about the deletion of his name from the current voters register even though he has been a registered voter since 1992.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic at Oda, Mr Ofori Ampofo said he surprisingly found his name and picture appearing in the space for dead persons during the recent district assembly election in which he retained his seat as an assembly member.

“I am not dead but alive and kicking “so I am asking the Electoral Commission (EC) why my name was added to deceased persons list?” he asked.

He said during the exhibition of the voters register, he checked and found his name in the appropriate place in the register so I could not understand why the name found its way to the list of deceased persons. “

According to him, he had participated in all the previous elections without any hitches so he was surprised this time round to be described as dead while he is still alive.

When the Daily Graphic contacted the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr John Appiah-Baffoe, on the issue, he said the mistake might have been made by the exhibition officer for the electoral area.

He, therefore, advised the victim to file an objection form during the next exhibition of the voters register for the anomaly to be corrected so that he could vote in the next elections.
