“I have not been in the country for a while; and also when I returned, I quickly had to sort out some party issues considering the internal troubles we are faced with at the moment. So I decided to be here today [Friday] to express my condolence to you. I came for two things; first of all, the late Abubakar Sadique was my friend. He was one of the young guys who always took part in my activities anytime I visited the Ashanti Region. So the one who has fallen is my friend; which is why I needed to come and be part of the process to bid him farewell”.

“Additionally, he is a member and a true son of the NPP, and as a leader of the party, I needed to be here this afternoon. I know the incident that took his life is not a good one. It’s not the proper way for him to have left this world but God knows best. What happened is really painful but let’s commit everything into the hands of the Lord. Nobody should seek to avenge his death; that will not help us in anyway. Democracy does not condone killing and so I am telling all NPP members that nobody’s blood will be spilled ever again. Abubakar Sadique has sacrificed his life for Ghana and for the NPP and for his friends; and that is to say there will be no more blood spillage. I encourage all his family members to be strong in such difficult times”.

Background

It would be recalled that Abubakar Saddiq was part of the angry Akufo-Addo loyalists who locked up the Asawase Constituency office, Thursday in protest over comments made by the Chairman of the Constituency.

Youth Organiser, Issah Usman and Women’s Organiser, Hajia Wasila Gariba of the NPP in the Asawase constituency were remanded with a party supporter Alhassan Issah.
