Kwabena Agyepong is running NPP like his personal business - Addison

Philip Addison secured 22 votes and Adjei Tawiah obtained 19 votes

Kwabena Agyepong, NPP General Secretary

The defeated parliamentary aspirant on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Korle Klottey Constituency, Philip Addison has accused the General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong of hijacking the party.

According to him, Mr. Agyepong is running the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition like his personal business.

Addison who was lawyer for the NPP presidential candidate during the 2012 election case, was defeated in the Korle Klottey primary by a more popular candidate Nii Noi Nortey in the polls which was held Sunday.

He polled 22 votes as against the winner’s 393.

Commenting on the elections, the renowned lawyer told Accra-based Kasapa FM Monday that he lost because the process that led to elections were skewed in favour of his opponent.

“I decided to boycott because the process was skewed towards one candidate and so there was no need. We made agreements on when the elections will be held but before I knew, the date had changed.

“And it’s all because the general secretary is running the party like his personal enterprise. He doesn’t consult anybody, he doesn’t listen to anybody, he just does what he wants and that is the problem,” he bemoaned.

He added that until the outstanding issues in the constituency are resolved, it will be difficult for the party to annex the seat in 2016.
